Book 2: Chapter 4 (4/8)

A month later inside the Timeless Dungeon. Kain had just finished his meditation for the day as he opened his eyes and saw Princess Phyrra was waiting for him. He asked, Phyrra, any sight from the demons returning?

No, Sir Kain.

Uhm, why are you here?

My father wanted me to ask Sir Kain if you can train our city guards into real soldiers.

Training them? Kain shook his head and continued, They are too weak.

I know, Sir Kain. Many of our strong soldiers have fallen in battle to protect the Kingdom. Now we only have merely five hundred thousand city guards to help us defend this city. If you can train them to get a little better, that would surely benefit us very much.

I ref- Kain was about to refuse but then Iris appeared in front of him.

Princess Phyrra suddenly stopped moving. Kain looked outside and saw everything else also stopped moving. The bird stopped flying in mid-air, the tree stopped making annoying sounds. This didnt surprise Kain at all since he knows Iris is the Dungeon Guardian and she is capable of doing something like freezing the time in here.

Kain asked, Iris, are you here to give me a new quest?

Yes. Your second quest is to train all five hundred thousand city guards of this city into soldiers bearing the physical strength equal to seventh-tier warriors in Toria Continents.

Ah, come on. Those weak-ass humans here cant even surpass third-tier warriors. It would take me forever to train them into seventh-tiers.

This is a Timeless Dungeon. Two hundred forty years in here is equal to one day in Toria Continents. You can live up to two thousand years in here since you are a Legend-tier magic caster. Im sure it will only take you roughly thirty years or so to complete this quest.

Do I have any other choice? Like killing all the demons in this realm or something like that? I hate training weak-ass people.

No, good luck in your quest. Iris disappeared and everything resumed to normal.

Sir Kain, I know this kind of task is- Princess Phyrra knew Kain wanted to refuse and she was about to persuade him more.

I will do it.

Pardon?

Tell your father to create a barrack where the city guards can train to be soldiers. Here is the list of things I will need for the barracks.

Sir Kain, on the behalf of my people-

I know I know You wanted to thank me on the behalf of your people blah blah blah. Now stop wasting my time and go tell your father so he can start building the barrack.

After Princess Phyrra left the room. Kain started to calculate and then thought to himself, How long would it take to complete ten quests in the First-tier of this Dungeon? The first quest was kinda easy. It took less than a day. This second quest can take at least ten or twenty or even fifty years to complete. More importantly, I dont know how to train people.

King Filifar was very happy to know Kain agreed to train his city guards. He immediately gave the order to build a barrack with all the training equipment that Kain had asked for. The barrack wasnt big enough as Kain wanted but it was good enough to train five thousand city guards at a time. Kain casted [Conjure Skeleton Warrior] five hundred times and said, Each Skeleton Warrior will train ten humans. Put your steel swords and steel shields away, use the wooden swords and wooden shield instead. I dont know how you are going to train them but do not kill any human, understand?

After all five hundred Skeletons nodded their head. Kain walked into a room reserved for him and thought, Skeleton Warriors were human warriors when they were still alive. Im sure they have gone through some kind of training before being sent to war and died. I hope those Skeletons still remember the training they went through when they were still alive and can train human warriors of this realm similarly. If not, I will have to think of something else. Kain then began his meditation hoping to advance into level 32 soon.

After finishing his twelve hours of meditation, Kain walked out and saw the humans laying on the floor while the Skeletons dragged them around. Kain asked, What is going on? I thought I told you guys not to kill any human!

A human laying on the ground said in a tired voice, Si Sir Kain. None of us have died yet. We have be been training nonstop. Ple please tell them to let us rest.

Ah, you were just tired? Fine. All Skeletons listen up. Today training is completed. We will resume the training tomorrow morning. All human warriors make sure you sleep- Kain didn't even finish the sentence because he heard all five thousand human warriors slept on the floor and some of them even snored very loud.

Kain thought to himself, No bloodshed. This is good. Seems like the Skeleton Warriors still remember how their training was when they were alive. I will test the humans' strength a month from now. If they really can get stronger from this type of training, then I will tell the King to build another barrack. At my current level, I can conjure at least two thousand Skeleton Warriors before mana depletion. Seems like this quest will be finished faster than I thought.

Approximately two months later. Kain was meditating inside his room when he heard a voice call out to him, Kain, Im here.

Kain angrily opened his eyes because he just lost the meditation progress for today due to being interrupted. Kain said in an unhappy tone, Iris, next time please wait until I finish my meditation before you bother me.

You wont lose any progress. I have frozen the time so you can just go back to meditation after we are done without losing any meditation progress.

Hah? You can do that too?

Yes. This is my Dungeon. I can control it however I want.

Alright beautiful Iris, what quest are you going to give to me now?

You havent completed the second quest yet, but judging by how you handle it; it will just be a matter of time before you complete that quest. Letting your Skeletons training the city guards into soldiers while you continue to enjoy life and meditate isnt a bad idea.

Nope, it wasnt a bad idea but a very smart idea.

Right Your third quest is to propose and marry Princess Phyrra.

Absolutely not! I already loved someone else.

Do you want to fail this quest? If you fail, you will be trapped here forever.

Would you please give me another quest? Im ready to kill all the demons here and move onto the next tier of this Dungeon.

The quests are given to you by the Watchers who are watching your performance. Im just here to deliver it. I know in Toria Continents you can only marry one person. But this isnt Toria Continents. You can marry as many girls as you wanted. Also, whatever happened in the Dungeon will stay in the Dungeon. The boy you loved wont know that you marry a girl here.

Woah I fell in love with a female human, not a male so please correct your statement.

Oh, my bad. Do you accept the third quest or not? If not then you will be trapped here lasting eternally.

You sounded like you were giving me a choice. But in fact, I have no choice. I will accept the quest to propose and marry Princess Phyrra.

Great! Good luck to you, Kain Bersk. You can now go back to your meditation before I unfreeze the time. By that way, you wont lose any meditation progress.
