Chapter 145 Ice Wolf King (2)
Leon watched Jet fight for a while as his own summons suppressed the weaker Ice Wolves. The Ice wolves were quite strong to say the least, but Leon had more numbers on his side. Plus, his summons were not weak at all. They steadily mowed down the resistance without him having to raise a finger to contribute to the battle. All he did was raise new Undead Ice Wolves and have them commit to fighting against their former kin.
Leon waltzed through the bloodied mounds of ice like he was talking a walk through the park. His arms were folded behind him and his robes flowed smoothly behind him as he walked.
As Leon waltzed through the bloody frozen battlefield, a large family watched him and Jet. An aged man that had a head of balding white hair was seated on a large, soft chair. He had a a long, white beard, but despite his obvious old age, his eyes were as fiery and lively as that of any hot blooded youth.
"I still do not understand why Jet fights with an Undead as his companion." A younger man that bore no resemblance at all to Jet said. He had a scowl on his face as he spoke, expressing his discontent at the situation.
The old man that everyone stood around turned to him with a frown. "I do not know you as one to discriminate, Dorian." The old man said firmly. His name was Daniel, and he was Jet's grandfather. He had been exceptionally happy when Jet had conquered the Torch Dungeon, but seeing him relate with Leon had put him on edge at first. It was only after some time in the Tower of Trials had passed that he finally understood that Leon only possessed good intentions.
Although they could only see what was happening, and not hear who was being said among the people on the Island of Fate, it was easy enough to understand what was going on. There were also some times when they would be unable to watch what a person was doing. It was almost as if the person in mind did not exist, but after some time, everything would go back to normal.
This was not too surprising, though, as it was already a known phenomenon when Divinity's Bout was concerned. People had guessed that the Gods had something to do with it, but since they could do nothing about it, they had no choice but to accept it as it was.
This strange effect was indeed the meddling of the Gods. There were quite a number of Gods who had special prodigies partaking in Divinity's Bout, so they used their Divinities to temporarily stop the broadcast and hide any important part of their prodigies' abilities that might prove explosive if known world wide. When Leon had shown Jet his human form, he had done it without thinking about the people that might be watching. In fact, he had completely forgotten this little point. Luckily for him, Michael had intervened in a timely manner to hide his identity.
Dorian, the one who had spoken earlier, frowned. He was Jet's uncle, and was not too happy. He had a strong distaste for anything that originated from the Demon Continent, and anything that served as a container for Unholy energy. Leon was only big walking bag of Unholy energy.
Part of his distaste came from his Class and profession. He was a Holy Priest by Class, and he been a traveler for a long time. He travelled through many villages and town, helping those who were still suffering from the after effects of the Great Shift. He had come upon many horrors that had been birthed from the concentration of abundant Unholy energy in one place, so he had developed a distaste toward anything with that vile, corrupting energy.
He had seen towns be run down by hordes of undead that counted in the thousands. People be ripped apart by the vicious monsters, and then turned into undead themselves by the corruption of Unholy energy. He feared the same for his nephew.
"You worry too much, brother." Someone chuckled and Dorian looked over with a scowl. He turned to his twin brother, Jet's father, Gael, as he spoke. "Jet is a big boy. He isn't stupid. I believe he would have already left the Undead's side if he thought his life would be in danger. And besides, he is not weak. Even if he were to lose, he would be able to buy himself enough time to escape with his own summons." Gael laughed.
"Hmm." Dorian simply hummed in response, turning his attention back to the large screen that hovered in front of the family. They all watched as Jet did battle with the Wolf King. He cast spatial storms all around the giant wolf, forcing it down a straight path were it was met with a hail of burning fireballs. Platforms of ice hung all around the Ice Wolf King, but they were all burned away by the intense rain of fire, and eventually, its fur became the main recipient for the unending attacks.
Slash!
A pained whimper escaped the maw of the Ice Wolf King as a spatial blade dug deep into its shoulder, severing muscles and flesh. Its front right leg went soft, loosing the ability to support the wolf's weight, and causing the wolf to lose its balance for a moment. It quickly regained its balance however, and continued to sprint forward while hurling ice spikes back at its attackers.
"He is about to end it." Daniel commented, leaning back into his chair with a deep sigh. He had a small smile on his face as he watched Jet sprint forward with his swords pulled out and ready. The space around his sword visibly warped and twisted as he applied his magic on them
He blinked out of existence for a moment, before appearing right above the neck of the Ice Wolf King. The Wolf King's senses were sharp and it quickly noticed where its foe had vanished to. Its head snapped up and it opened its jaws wide, ready to crush Jet's body with its strong jaws.
