I, the Supreme Overlord, Start by Enslaving the Zerg Queen

Chapter 63: The Mad King

Regarding the matter of the Tier 7 remnant soul attempting resurrection through possession, Charles had already guessed a bit.

After all, the previous actions of this entity were clearly aimed at shaking his mental state. Coupled with the hint from the Eye of Data, it all became clear.

Moreover, he roughly knew who the remnant soul of the Tier 7 being was.

It was the king of the Maya Kingdom, the figure with a stark contrast in the mural.

He wanted to use the power of his Tier 7 remnant soul to create a moment that would shatter Charles' mental state, making it easier to possess his body!

"Heh, Norton, still not coming out?" Charles coldly addressed the silver spear.

However, the silver spear remained motionless, completely ignoring him.

"Master, what are you talking about? Ah, I suddenly have an urge to fuck you!" Little Green giggled foolishly, attempting to pull down Charles' pants.

Charles just stared coldly at the spear, paying no attention to the three women trying to undress him. No matter how seductive their faces looked, they were all just an old man's illusions!

Sure enough, no matter how hard they tried, the three apparitions couldn't pull down his pants.

The one who ties the bell must untie it. If Charles himself did not open his mind, even a Tier 7 remnant soul could do nothing.

The king's methods actually reassured Charles quite a bit—it seemed that the remnant soul had no means of physically harming him!

Otherwise, a Tier 7 expert could easily crush him to death with just a finger!

"Heh, keep at it, Norton. Creating this illusion must have cost you quite a bit, right?" Charles sneered.

Before Norton could respond, Charles' next sentence shattered his hopes completely: "And if I'm not mistaken, you haven't just created one illusionary space, but four."

"I know my women well. They would undoubtedly choose to fight you to the death without hesitation. I probably won't even need to do anything, your remnant soul will slowly be worn down by them."

"So in the end, this Spear of Deicide will still be mine!"

The first few sentences didn't elicit much reaction, but as soon as Charles finished the last one, an old man with white hair suddenly appeared from the silver spear.

His face contorted with rage, he screamed wildly at Charles, "Impossible! The Spear of Deicide was something I painstakingly snatched. How could I let a brat like you take it?"

"Besides, you're just bluffing. Those three women were never drawn into the space. You've been the only one asleep here all along!"

"Let me enter your body now, and I will grant you supreme glory, ahhh...."

Without a word, Charles thrust the Spear of Deicide straight into the remnant soul of Norton, the King of the Maya Kingdom. Norton screamed in agony as if enduring unimaginable torment.

"Idiot, you think garbage like you deserves to be a king?" Charles scoffed, thinking little of the Maya Kingdom.

If Norton hadn't revealed himself, Charles would indeed have been troubled for a while since there was nothing he could do with Norton hiding inside the spear.

But since this genius decided to come out on his own, Charles couldn't pass up the opportunity. He immediately used the soul-severing technique he had recently learned, combined with the Spear of Deicide, to deliver a devastating blow.

As expected, the Semi-Divine Weapon, combined with a basic soul-severing technique, left Norton utterly defenseless.

Norton howled in pain, sometimes begging Charles for mercy, other times cursing him, like a pitiful, schizophrenic patient.

Perhaps because the Spear of Deicide's killing speed was somewhat slow, Charles took the opportunity to chat with him a bit more.

He spoke words that cut deep and broke Norton's composure: "Old Norton, I saw the coming of the Land of the Dead in the mural. Could it be that your kingdom was destroyed because you disrespected this spear?"

"The Royal Corpse probably isn't some powerful undead creature but rather a lifelong curse on the Maya royal family, right?"

"And perhaps, including your parents, all of your ancestors are bound to that pathetic fat body. This is all your fault."

After all, the Eye of Data mentioned that the Spear of Deicide itself was marked by a divine entity from the Land of the Dead, likely due to certain actions.

For example... human sacrifice.

Ancient people often relied on sacrificial rituals to obtain divine power. So how should a divine artifact fallen to the mortal realm be activated?

To avoid offending this sacred spear, Norton didn't use the conventional method to activate the weapon, as that would be an insult to the divine in ancient society.

This explains why the kingdom started as a prosperous and harmonious society but later turned into a living hell.

It was all because Norton, in his later years, couldn't accept his impending death and coveted divine power. He continually tried various dark and deviant methods to please the divine within the spear.

That "divine" was originally a Twelfth-Tier powerhouse who failed to ascend, the original owner of the Spear of Deicide.

In the end, the divine entity from the Land of the Dead took notice of this and, for whatever reason, became very angry. г?ƹ+∂ɗ@-#Ғɪ+гѕτ--%а%τ-

In its rage, it incited the impoverished people Norton had secretly sacrificed to overthrow the kingdom.

Ultimately, the divine failed.

Thanks to the Maya Kingdom's strong national power, those with extraordinary abilities managed to rescue the kingdom from its crisis.

After the crisis was averted, Norton merely thought that the entity was also coveting the sacred spear, so he increased the frequency of human sacrifices to a frenzied level.

Finally, the mysterious divine entity from the Land of the Dead brought calamity once more. This time, she used a necromantic catastrophe to uproot the entire world, leaving only the ancient structure that housed the Spear of Deicide.

"Shut up! Shut up! I will earn the god's forgiveness! I will unravel the secrets of the divine spear!" Norton's remnant soul had already been weakened significantly, but he continued to struggle.

"God's forgiveness? Is that your excuse for being an arrogant tyrant who disregarded the lives of his people?" Charles sneered, continuing, "I want to ask you, did you worship the high and mighty divine, or were you just serving your own desires?"

"If you truly had reverence for life, how could you even think of seizing the divine spear?"

As soon as Charles finished speaking, the silver spear glowed faintly, instantly devouring the Tier 7 remnant soul completely.

Norton had no chance for repentance. Those slain by the Spear of Deicide cease to exist in the present, future, and past.

Norton was now completely erased from the world.

With Norton's death, the Mysterious Space gradually began to shatter.

Charles slowly awakened from his slumber. As he opened his eyes, he saw three women sitting beside him, their eyes swollen from crying multiple times.

"I'm back." Charles said, patting the stunned women with a smile.

It seemed that the Tier 7 remnant soul didn't have the power to draw them into the illusion. That was good, as it prevented any unintended mishaps.

This was reality.

The three women immediately sprang to life upon hearing their master's familiar voice. They clung tightly to Charles' clothes, their once-dull eyes gradually regaining their light.

"Master, you're finally back. If you'd taken any longer, we were prepared to stay here with you forever." Medusa said, wiping the tears from the corners of her eyes, her tone resolute.

When they had just emerged from the passage, they noticed their master staring blankly at the silver spear on the altar. When Medusa touched Charles, he suddenly collapsed to the ground.

This sudden turn of events threw the three women into a panic. Medusa, being the strongest and most experienced among them, tried countless methods to wake Charles.

But all efforts ended in silence. They had resolved that if their master never woke up, they would stay here with him forever.

Whether he returned or not didn't matter, they would wait for his return indefinitely.

Charles felt a wave of warmth in his heart upon hearing their words. These three silly slave girls...

He then recounted everything that had happened in the illusion to the three women, in an effort to completely dispel their unease.

"A Tier 7 remnant soul..." Medusa remained silent for a long time before finally speaking with determination, "Master, once we return, forgive me for not being able to indulge with you. I need to train until I reach Tier 4."

"Such things are quite common on the Continent of Overlord, which is why people often find themselves inexplicably replaced. We must constantly grow stronger to fend off all invaders."

Catherine and Little Green felt the same way, their desire for power had reached a critical point.

To be blunt, they both wanted to surpass Charles in combat strength and use their weapons to clear away all his enemies.

Charles was pleased to hear this and told them they could use anything from the Zerg treasure vault as they wished.

He was not surprised that Medusa could reach Tier 4. After all, she had fallen from Tier 7, and at least until Tier 8, she would face no obstacles in her cultivation.

As for Catherine and Little Green, their strength was already very close to upper Tier 3. Everything was moving in a positive direction.

And that's good, isn't it?

After a brief moment of lingering, Charles decided it was time to leave this cursed place.

That's right, he didn't even want the Spear of Deicide!

Having roughly understood the spear's and the kingdom's specific background from the illusion, Charles even considered destroying this place entirely.

Otherwise, it was just too dangerous.

Not to mention whether that mysterious divine entity might use this place as a gateway to invade the Continent of Overlord, just the Spear of Deicide alone was not something he could meddle with.

The Semi-Divine Weapon was impressive, but taking it would come with a mark!
